Project Manager (Utilities) opportunity (UK travel required)

Your new role

As a Project Manager with this contractor, you will oversee the delivery of multiple ongoing projects across the UK. It will be down to the Project Manager to optimise performance through the effective management of projects from allocation by the commercial team to completion. Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Managing day-to-day project delivery teams within a geographical area, ensuring all delivery requirements are met, including safety, quality, street works, supplier performance, and improvement.
  • Ensure the project meets all current legislation CDM, HASAWA, NRSWA C.O.S.H.H. etc.
  • Overseeing budgetary and cost control for each project.
  • Managing staff, overseeing work schedules, and assigning specific duties accordingly.
  • Ensuring that performance standards and contractual KPIs and SLAs are met, delivering quality service to clients.
  • Establishing and maintaining close working relationships with key partners and stakeholders in the region.
  • Take an overview of projects to be completed and allocate resources accordingly.
  • Timetable activities within projects including provision of dates to S.A.P. engineers for projects.
  • Assist in costing schemes for quotation as required.


  • What you'll need to succeed
    Suitable similar experience will be required for the role of Project Manager, and you will ideally have the following qualifications or equivalent experience:
  • Significant experience within the utilities' industry, ideally in electrical distribution or a similar utility.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing teams, including contractor partners.
  • Experience with civils projects, encompassing both field and back-office elements.
  • Strong stakeholder management and engagement skills.
  • Good commercial acumen and the ability to understand, manage, and deliver KPIs.
  • The ability to lead, motivate, and manage field teams effectively.
  • Capability to contribute technical knowledge to proposals and reports.
  • Excellent literacy, numeracy, and IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Innovative, creative, and proactive with a solution-oriented approach.
  • Flexibility in line with business requirements.
  • Ability to represent the company professionally at all times.
  • Commercially focused and aware.
  • Full, clean driving licence.
  • Working knowledge of construction and engineering contracts.
