Hays Belfast are working alongside a market leader in Structural Steel as they seek to recruit a Construction Project Manager. Your new employer is covering all elements of steel from design, fabrication and is currently working in sectors including Data Centres, Education, commercial, industrial, infrastructure and retail. With over 45 years of industry experience, your new employer is a significant player in the Structural Engineering industry, operating throughout the UK and Ireland with their order book taking projects end to end from coordination from tender through to site erection.Joining this company as a Project Manager, you will join a first-class team who value their staff and look to develop their futures and career potential.
Your new role
Reporting to the Operations Director, you will work alongside a supportive team to deliver a variety of structural steel frame projects from inception through to site erection management. Duties of the role will be varied but include some of the following:

  • Develop comprehensive project plans outlining tasks, schedules, resources, equipment and milestones to ensure projects are completed on time and all deadlines are met from tender through to final steel handover
  • Coordinate with design teams (both internal and external), engineers, and subcontractors to ensure project objectives are met.
  • Assist in the preparation and monitoring of project budgets, forecasts, and schedules to ensure cost-effective delivery within deadlines.
  • Managing project budgets, tracking expenses, and identifying opportunities for cost optimisation and change control
  • Managing subcontractor selection and on-site progress.
  • Assist in Managing and reviewing contracts, including terms, conditions, and deliverables.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and negotiate changes or variations as needed.
  • Resource management and Risk Management
  • To perform any other duties as may be reasonably required to ensure successful delivery of all ongoing work within the company workstream.

  • What you'll need to succeed
    Previous experience in a construction or project management role and ideally have a strong understanding or background in Steel Structures.
  • Relevant knowledge of structural steel/ cladding/metal decking and the design and build process of same
  • Full driving licence and be open to some degree of site travel.
  • Experience working to tight deadlines
  • Experience of working on my own initiative and acting to resolve any issues impacting upon performance
  • Strong organisational skills
  • A collaborative team player - concerned with the team success as well as individual performance
  • Any requirement for supervisory and management tickets / NVQ for working within the construction industry.
