Job Title: Procurement Category Manager
Location: South West England
Salary: £35k - £45k
About the Job:
A large university is looking for a Category Manager to join their Finance Department. This exciting role involves:
- Finding the best deals: You'll find the best prices for goods and services the university needs, such as office supplies, furniture, technology, and construction services. You'll research suppliers, negotiate contracts, and implement strategies to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
- Helping departments: You'll work with different departments to understand their needs and find ways to save money and improve how they buy things. You'll provide guidance on procurement processes, help them develop purchasing plans, and analyse their spending to identify opportunities for savings.
- Making sure things are fair: You'll make sure the university follows the rules when buying things and that everyone is treated fairly. You'll ensure compliance with procurement policies and procedures, manage risks, and monitor supplier performance. You'll also work with legal and compliance teams to address any issues that may arise.
What you'll do:

You'll provide guidance on procurement processes, help them develop purchasing plans, and analyse their spending to identify opportunities for savings. You'll also work with them to develop strategies for supplier relationship management and performance improvement.
- Make sure things are fair: You'll make sure the university follows the rules when buying things and that everyone is treated fairly. You'll ensure compliance with procurement policies and procedures, manage risks, and monitor supplier performance. You'll also work with legal and compliance teams to address any issues that may arise. You'll conduct regular audits and reviews to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
Who you are:
- Estates procurement experience is essential (Soft and Hard FM)
- Higher education experience is desired
- Public sector experience is desired
