We are looking for an Oracle Database Engineer with strong hands-on experience in database administration and a deep understanding of RDBMS and NoSQL platforms. The ideal consultant will have a proven track record of managing and maintaining highly available, secure, and performant database platforms in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure daily health and compliance checks for all production systems.

  • Ensure successful database backups and promptly resolve any issues.

  • Monitor and manage database jobs, ensuring successful execution and resolution of any failures.

  • Detect and address database monitoring alerts promptly.

  • Manage database capacity to accommodate projected business-as-usual growth.

  • Respond to team distribution list emails in a timely manner.

  • Handle problem tickets and service requests efficiently, keeping customer needs in mind.

  • Maintain high availability, reliability, security, and performance of database platforms.

  • Perform database installation, configuration, tuning, upgrades, and maintenance activities.

  • Provide technical support to application support and development teams.

  • Offer consultancy services to application support and development teams on database and systems design.

  • Execute disaster recovery procedures as necessary.

  • Apply database security updates in compliance with defined policies.

  • Review and remediate vulnerabilities identified through Qualys scans.

  • Deliver project-related workloads according to defined plans and budgets.

  • Maintain and update all operational procedures accurately.

  • Participate in On-Call rotation, triaging, and addressing production issues as they arise.

  • Identify cost-saving and optimization opportunities within the organization.

  • Build strong relationships across business areas, underpinned by trust and core values.

Required Skills:

  • Excellent knowledge of multiple database platforms such as Oracle, MSSQL, Sybase, Snowflake, and MongoDB.

  • Strong experience working with Exadata environments.

  • Proficient in configuring Linux and Windows operating systems for optimal database performance.

  • Solid understanding of networking, storage, server, and virtualization layers.

  • Expertise in logical and physical database design.

  • Experience in database installation, configuration, backup, and recovery strategies.

  • Strong knowledge of database performance tuning, migrations, and upgrades.

  • Proficiency in clustering, high availability, replication, and disaster recovery.

  • In-depth understanding of database security, auditing, and compliance with regulations such as GDPR and SOX.
