Job Description

The Credit Services Association (CSA) is the only national trade association in the UK for organisations active in the debt collection and purchase industry. Our membership employs nearly 11,000 people, held over £20bn of consumer debt for collection last year across over 20million accounts, and they held nearly £4bn of commercial debts in over 1.5million commercial accounts. Our members act on behalf of a large and diverse range of creditors including banks and utility companies, and comprises specialist organisations such as tracing agencies and law firms.

Our vision is to build confidence in the debt collection and debt purchase industry amongst member companies and the customers they deal with on a daily basis. Our aim is to make the debt collection process simple, clear and less stressful for those affected. We are committed to creating a sustainable future for the industry by:

  • Ensuring our members put customers at the heart of everything they do so that they have the confidence to engage.
  • Acting as a support network for all involved in and affected by the work of our members.
  • Taking action to ensure that the highest standards are upheld and ongoing engagement with industry regulators and government is maintained.

Our current Independent Non-Executive Chair is due to stand down in February 2025 and a successor is required to lead a new term. As Independent Chair, you will work closely with the CEO, and wider Board, to support, oversee and promote excellent standards in governance and leadership. You will be an experienced Non-Executive Chair with proven business acumen, have considerable knowledge of the finance industry, the surrounding regulatory and political landscape, and also have demonstrable ability to influence and network with key stakeholders, including regulators, consumer organisations, government and the media. You will serve and uphold the best interests of our members, while recognising and promoting our values and vision to build confidence in the debt collection and debt purchase industry, and to create a sustainable future for the industry.

Experience in education, including apprenticeships, would also be advantageous.

The Independent Chair is expected to serve as a Chair and director on the main board of the Credit Services Association, as well as a director its subsidiary company, CSA (Services) Ltd.
