Network Engineer
Location: Isle of Man - Relocation for a 24-month fixed-term contract
Salary: £30,000/£48,000 + Benefits

JOB PURPOSE
For the initial 24 months the IoM Network Engineer will be required to:
Primarily support the design and deployment of the new Mobile Radio Access network. Operation and maintenance of the current IoM Mobile network.
As required support the design, operations and maintenance of IOM Fibre Access Network.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Priority for Mobile
Support the design, operations and maintenance of IOM Mobile Network team as required, this includes and is not limited to:
o Site acquisition, planning and physical infrastructure deployment
o Commissioning and installing of the Radio Access network equipment
o Support the configuration of new and existing mobile site and optimisation parameters
o Climbing of masts and towers to perform all operational and maintenance tasks.
o Support the ongoing routine maintenance and trouble tickets for mobile sites and customer faults
o Carrying out of routine maintenance of all ancillary systems such as battery routines and antenna checks including the archiving of all systems for security.

Medium priority for Fixed:
Support the design, operations and maintenance of IOM Access Network team as required, this includes and is not limited to:
o Duct infrastructure and civil engineering works.
o Assist with both external and internal customer installs.
o Permissions, licences, wayleaves and consents.
o Fibre to the Premise installs

Low priority as required:
Provide support to IoM Engineering and Mobile team with the provision of new services, sites, ongoing maintenance and routine faults.
Assist with and help manage projects for feasibility/commissioning/integration in areas such as Access Networks, off island connectivity, mobile sites and microwave links including RFIs/RFPs etc.
Assist Design, installation and commissioning of new transmission and mobile equipment.
Perform fault diagnostics and resolution of customer and network faults for the Access and Mobile networks.
Support for both hardware and software upgrades on relevant access and mobile network equipment

In addition, the person will be required to
Understand and comply with the licence and other regulatory rules applying to the position.
Understand and comply with the Data Protection Law as it relates to the position.
Understand and comply with the Health and Safety responsibilities relevant to the role as defined in the Safety Policy
Work in accordance with the safety procedures and safe working policies.
Undertake appropriate security awareness training covering information security, data protection, financial crime and payment card data and comply with their information security responsibilities. This awareness training includes understanding of the incident reporting process to be followed in the event of the employee suspecting, causing, or discovering an information security incident.

Due to the nature of this position, the postholder must hold a satisfactory Basic Police Disclosure. All disclosures of a criminal background are treated with the strictest confidence and checks will only be made in connection with suitability for a post and for no other purpose.
Convictions likely to be considered relevant to this post include dishonesty and those indicating a breach of trust, due to the security requirements of the role.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Essential
. Have or working towards climbing certification, to support the climbing team, climbing masts and towers. Or other industry standard qualifications which will support this role.
. Knowledge or willingness to gain an acceptable knowledge of Access and mobile network technologies
. Self-motivated with the ability to work as part of a cross-functional team.
. Good level of competency with computer-based systems and ability/willingness to learn new systems.
. Desire to learn new technologies through both formal and self-learning and ability to adapt to an ever-changing technical environment.
. Flexible approach to work and participation in a callout rota.

Desirable
. Previously worked in an Access Network or Mobile Network role
. Understanding of Fibre to The Premise broadband access technologies
