Mechanical Design Engineer - DV Cleared

Location: Aldermaston | 2-3 Days On-Site

Rate: Open For Discussion | Inside IR35

Clearance: Active DV Clearance Required

Contract: 6 - 12 Months

I'm currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to provide mechanical designs for the Facility Design Authority (FDA) such that utilities, infrastructure, engineering processes, equipment and facilities are compliant with legislation, standards and requirements associated with engineering design throughout the facility life cycle.

Key Accountabilities

  • Deliver mechanical designs that meet safety and performance requirements.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of relevant legislative documentation/standards associated with mechanical design engineering.
  • Application of knowledge to confirm designs are prepared which comply with relevant legislation, standards and requirements.
  • Maintain and promote high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security and quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver mechanical engineering designs that address defined requirements, across the full engineering life cycle, to a high standard.
  • Ensure the design intent is maintained throughout the life cycle, liaising with other discipline areas to ensure overall design intent is maintained.
  • Ensure compliance with Company Assurance Environment, Safety, Health and Quality (ESH&Q) and statutory requirements.
  • Ensure application of standards is proportionate and that engineering best practice is adopted.

Skills/Experience

  • Producing mechanical designs as part of a multi-discipline design team. (Essential)
  • Working knowledge of legislation and standards applicable to mechanical engineering. (Essential)
  • Competent in standard office software, and engineering tools and applications. (Essential)
  • Experience of working in a highly regulated environment (preferably nuclear and/or explosives). (Desirable)
  • Knowledge of legislation and standards associated with nuclear and/or high hazard facilities. (Desirable)
  • ONC/OND or equivalent in electrical engineering or other related discipline. (Essential)
  • HNC/HND or equivalent in electrical engineering or other related discipline. (Desirable)
