At Norwich City Services Ltd (NCSL), a company wholly owned by Norwich City Council, we pride ourselves on our ambition, vision, and commitment to excellence. We care for Norwich's streets, parks, and properties, providing vital environmental and building maintenance services across the city. Now, we are seeking an inspirational Managing Director to lead us into the next phase of our growth and service delivery.

Your Role

As Managing Director, you will have the unique opportunity to shape the strategic direction of the company. Working closely with the chair of the board, board of directors, and shareholders, as well as engaging with council employees, partners, and customers, your leadership will be instrumental in steering the organisation towards its vision. This role goes beyond day-to-day management. You will drive transformational change whilst ensuring efficient resources and delivering improved services on behalf of the client to customers.

You will provide strategic leadership for the company, leading on the definition and execution of our vision, purpose, and business strategies, ensuring alignment with NCSL company goals and the priorities of Norwich City Council. You'll also have responsibility for business growth, identifying and pursuing new opportunities for development and expansion, ensuring high quality performance with increased efficiency. Stakeholder collaboration will be key to this role as you represent and advocate for NCSL, Norwich City Council, and the wider Norwich community.

About You

We seek a dynamic leader with a proven track record of motivating and managing diverse teams to achieve exceptional performance. You'll have strong experience in financial management, resource optimisation, and driving continuous improvement across environmental services, property repairs, and/or related sectors. You must have a clear understanding of the challenges facing the public sector and the specific needs of Norwich and its communities.

To thrive in this role, you will:

  • Be a visionary leader, capable of driving change and building an inclusive, high-performing culture. Demonstrate expertise in strategic planning and policy implementation.
  • Exhibit strong commercial acumen, with the ability to balance social value with financial sustainability.
  • Be passionate about service delivery, always seeking ways to innovate and improve outcomes for customers.

Why Join Us?

This is more than just a leadership position; it's a chance to make a tangible difference to Norwich's environment, infrastructure, and communities. At NCSL, you'll have the platform to drive positive change, influence key decisions, and leave a lasting legacy. If you are ready to take on a role with scope, responsibility, and purpose, we'd love to hear from you.

Closing date: Midnight on Sunday 24th November
