Job Summary

The BIAA is seeking a full-time London Office Manager to play a key role within our UK office and the wider activities of the Institute.

The BIAA London Office Manager is responsible for the day-to-day administrative and operational functions of the Institute's UK office. The position involves coordinating research grants, providing administrative support to the BIAA's Council and Committees, accurate book-keeping, and acting as a first point of contact for Institute members as well as general enquiries. The London Office Manager also has a role in the administration of BIAA publications, organisation of UK-based events, personnel-related administration, and budget monitoring. Key relationships will be with the UK-based Director of Development, Communications and Operations, as well as the Institute's Ankara Manager and Director.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level or equivalent and have relevant office and administrative experience. They should be highly IT-literate, and able to use MS Office packages as well as CRM and accounting software. Training in the specific systems used by the Institute will be provided. Experience of book-keeping, financial reporting and budget monitoring are highly desirable. Some knowledge of and interest in Türkiye and the Black Sea region, and of the academic disciplines within the remit of the Institute, is desirable, but enthusiasm, initiative and communications skills are equally important. The position requires excellent interpersonal as well as written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work independently, flexibly and responsively. Candidates must be able to demonstrate initiative and effective time-management.

What we Offer

  • A competitive salary of £36,000-£38,000 per annum. The Institute contributes to the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS) pension arrangements for its employees.
