Job Description

Linux System Engineer - RHEL vacancy for a globally operating Basel based company in the Pharma sector.

Your tasks:

  • Installing, configuring, and upgrading Linux, UNIX, and new system builds, including building Physical and Virtual Systems
  • Troubleshooting of Linux systems hardware and software, including analysis, assessment and remediation of security vulnerabilities for Linux systems
  • Building custom RHEL workstations for lab instrumentation, ensuring network integration and compliance with security standards
  • Providing technical expertise for the planning and definition of new system requirements
  • Creating, tracking and closing service tickets, including updating of associated inventory and asset management tools
  • Consulting with various vendors, scientists and customer levels to devise solutions streamlining and expediting the delivery of improved laboratory research

Your experience/knowledge:

  • 3+ years of experience in Linux, including Linux RHEL 8/9 support, or Unix Systems Administration in a global enterprise, including Biotech, Biopharma, or Pharmaceutical environment
  • Solid professional skills in IT support, IT Operations, or application support and development, including troubleshooting and supporting non-standard software
  • Extensive knowledge of configuration management tools such as Cobbler and Chef
  • Familiarity with VMWare is a plus
  • Redhat certification or equivalent is preferred
  • University degree in a scientific discipline, computer science, engineering, mathematics
