Sellincourt is a friendly, successful primary school that thrives on creativity. Would you like to make a real difference to the lives of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)? Are you passionate about building relationships with children? Do you place importance on team work and believe that supporting children requires a collaborative and holistic approach? Would you welcome the challenge of career development and training? An opportunity to join our highly motivated and passionate team as a Learning Support Assistant has become available.
We are looking for a Learning Support Assistant to provide support for a Year 5 pupil who is part of the Willow Hearing Support Centre. You would be required to help the class teacher with classroom organisation and administration as well as supporting the individual child on the playground to interact and play well with their peers. This post is event linked which means if the child you are assigned to leaves the school or no longer requires one to one support, the post will cease.
You will be required to support children's learning and development, help to plan and organise activities and the learning environment as well as contribute to the overall ethos of the school. You will also be required to participate in training and other learning activities as necessary. Full training to support this child's needs will be provided.
Experience of working with children with SEN is desirable and you should have experience of working with children in a mainstream educational or similar setting. You should be able to demonstrate knowledge/understanding of the needs of such pupils described above. You will need to have good verbal and written communication skills and a commitment to helping children to achieve their best.
You will be joining a hardworking and friendly team and you will be provided with support, guidance and training organised by our SENCo and our Learning Support Assistant mentor.
