Job Description

Job Title: Learning Support Assistant (Full-Time)

Location: Luton, UK

Start Date: ASAP

We are looking for a committed and patient Learning Support Assistant to join our school in Luton, providing full-time support to children with special educational needs, particularly those with autism. This role is crucial in helping students access their education and thrive in a supportive and inclusive environment. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children with autism and hold a relevant qualification.



Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with autism, ensuring they can engage fully in classroom activities.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of individualized learning programs to meet the specific needs of each student.
  • Work closely with teachers and the SENCO to adapt learning materials and strategies to ensure accessibility for all students.
  • Help manage any social, emotional, or behavioral challenges students may face.
  • Support students in developing independence and self-confidence in both academic and social settings.
  • Keep accurate records of students' progress and communicate regularly with teachers, parents, and other staff.
  • Assist with personal care tasks if needed, ensuring dignity and respect at all times.


Essential Criteria:

  • A recognized qualification in Autism or equivalent experience.
  • Experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly autism.
  • Ability to work well in a team and independently.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping children succeed.


Desirable:

  • Previous experience working in an educational setting (primary or secondary).
  • First Aid training or a willingness to complete training.
  • An understanding of safeguarding procedures and practices.
