Lead Internal Auditor

Location: London - 3 days per week in the office

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Internal Auditor to oversee the execution of audit programmes, and ensuring audits are delivered effectively within agreed scopes and timelines. The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA) or IIA with significant experience in risk-based operational audits across areas such as asset management, corporate functions, and health & safety. Strong communication, leadership, and analytical skills are essential, along with experience in data analytics.

As a Lead Internal Auditor your main responsibilities will be:

• Lead the Audit Team and execute the audit programme following the objectives set by and under the supervision of the Audit Manager.
• Deliver audits according to the scope and time estimate in the agreed Terms of Reference (ToR).
• Prepare the draft ToR, the Audit Programme and the Audit Report, based on data analytics where applicable.
• Review the audit work carried out by the Audit Team to confirm that Auditors properly conclude on the work performed.
• Coach and train the Audit Team.
• Maintain constructive working relationships with Auditee.

Key requirements:

• Professional qualification - qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA) or IIA.
• Significant experience on risk-based operational audits including but not limited to asset management, corporate functions, health & safety, capital programmes.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - written and verbal, including report writing.
• Ability to be a team player and to take the lead when appropriate.
• Good problem solving, decision making and analytical skills.
• Experience with data analytics.
• Experience of working in transport, construction, energy, and other similar industries (desirable)
• Risk management experience and/or controls and assurance experience (desirable)
