Java Kotlin Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Java/Kotlin Engineer with a strong emphasis on Kotlin and Microservices development. This role is ideal for candidates with deep knowledge of messaging systems like Kafka and RTF, strong SQL skills, and an interest in building scalable and high-performance solutions. Experience with Hive and PySpark is a plus but not mandatory.

This is in Burgess Hill, UK hybrid role with 3 days/week in office.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain microservices using Kotlin and Java.
• Build robust and scalable messaging solutions with Kafka and RTF.
• Implement and optimize database solutions using SQL to manage large datasets efficiently.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, architects, and DevOps engineers, to deliver high-quality applications.
• Develop unit tests and integration tests to ensure code reliability and performance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, ensuring optimal system performance and scalability.
• Stay current with new technologies, tools, and practices in Kotlin, Java, and microservices architecture.
• Work in an agile environment, delivering code in sprints and participating in team ceremonies.

Must-Have Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience with Kotlin development, with proven expertise in building production-grade applications.
• Strong experience with Java and its ecosystem (eg, Spring Boot).
• Solid understanding of microservices architecture and best practices.
• Hands-on experience with Kafka and RTF for messaging systems.
• Proficiency in SQL for querying and managing relational databases.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
