Job Title: Interim Head of Financial Planning & Analysis

Location: University Finance Directorate

Salary: £70k - £80k

Type: 12 Months FTC

Are you a seasoned finance leader with a passion for driving strategic financial planning in a complex environment? Our client, a prestigious university, is looking for an experienced Interim Head of Financial Planning & Analysis to join their Financial Leadership Team and lead the financial planning and analysis function.

About the Role

This is a high-impact role where you will provide expert financial insights, working closely with senior leadership, governance bodies, and external stakeholders to drive effective decision-making and financial strategy. You'll lead a team and work collaboratively across departments to ensure robust financial support at all levels of the University.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Management & Reporting: Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial data.
  • Strategic Financial Support: Work alongside the CFO to develop and implement the university's finance strategy, including capital planning and investment cases.
  • Team Leadership & Collaboration: Lead and mentor a team of 4 while fostering a culture of collaboration and customer-focused service.
  • Business Partnering & Stakeholder Engagement: Provide strategic financial advice to departments, ensuring alignment with operational and financial plans.
  • Process & Resource Management: Drive improvements in financial systems and processes, ensuring efficient operations within the FP&A function.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience: Significant experience in financial management, ideally in a complex, professional services environment (Higher Education sector essential).
  • Technical Skills: Strong financial modelling, budgeting, and forecasting experience. Proven ability to lead complex scenario analysis and manage financial risks.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated experience leading teams and working collaboratively across departments.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage senior stakeholders effectively.
