Are you a passionate Solution Architect looking to work on impactful projects that improve lives while being part of a globally recognised, award-winning employer? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you!
CGI was recognised in the Sunday Times Best Places to Work list 2024 and has been named one of the World's Best Employers by Forbes magazine. We offer a competitive salary, excellent pension, private healthcare, plus a share scheme (3.5% + 3.5% matching) which makes you a CGI Partner, not just an employee.
We are committed to inclusivity, building a genuinely diverse community of tech talent and inspiring everyone to pursue careers in our sector, including our Armed Forces, and are proud to hold a Gold Award in recognition of our support of the Armed Forces Corporate Covenant. Join us and you'll be part of an open, friendly community of experts. We'll train and support you in taking your career wherever you want it to go.
This role can be based from Leatherhead or Reading. You must be a single UK National with an SC clearance, those capable of obtaining SC may apply.
Your future duties and responsibilities
As a Solution Architect, you will play a vital role in delivering medical systems for a key client. The primary system within this programme includes customised applications with bespoke code and database schemas. Additionally, you will oversee smaller bespoke and customised applications within the environment, ensuring seamless integration and system functionality.
In this role, you will collaborate with the programme's Architect and Infrastructure Engineers to design and evaluate solutions for infrastructure challenges. Your responsibilities will include producing detailed design documentation such as High-Level Designs (HLDs) and Low-Level Designs (LLDs), reviewing design, test, and implementation plans, and ensuring overall project objectives are met. This position requires working on-site 2-3 days per week in either Leatherhead or Reading.
In this role, you will:
• Support the programme's Architect in evaluating and preparing solutions for infrastructure problems.
• Produce detailed design documentation, including HLDs, LLDs, and other build and test-related materials.
• Review design, test, and implementation plans to ensure project alignment.
• Collaborate with Infrastructure Engineers to facilitate seamless infrastructure changes.
• Ensure all solutions meet the agreed contractual obligations and programme objectives.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
To excel in this role, you will need strong expertise in technical documentation, infrastructure engineering, and enterprise system management. Experience working in a remote team, along with problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to suggesting alternative solutions, will be essential. Your ability to support complex system integrations and work within a highly secure environment will be critical to success.
Proficiency in SQL (preferably SQL Server), Active Directory, and general platform knowledge (such as SANs, McAfee, NetBackup, and WSUS) will be highly beneficial. Additionally, experience maintaining RAID logs and collaborating with cross-functional teams will be advantageous in this role.
We're looking for a range of the following skills and experiences:
• Strong background in technical documentation and infrastructure engineering.
• Experience working on enterprise-level systems within highly secure environments.
• Ability to work effectively in a remote team while maintaining high collaboration.
• Proven problem-solving skills with a willingness to challenge existing solutions.
• Familiarity with SQL Server, Windows Server, and Active Directory.
• Knowledge of key infrastructure platforms, including SANs, McAfee, NetBackup, and WSUS.
