Location: Regents University London

Salary: £49,717 + (Dependant on skills and experience) +7.5% Market Force Supplement

Closing Date: 6th January 2025.

Hybrid Working: 3 days on Campus within Regents Park London

Are you an experienced IT professional with a passion for leading infrastructure teams and driving technical improvements? We are looking for an IT Infrastructure Manager to join our dynamic team and play a crucial role in supporting the University's IT systems and cloud environments.

Job Purpose:

As the IT Infrastructure Manager, you will oversee the operational needs of our IT systems, ensuring the smooth running of both on-premise and cloud services. You will lead the ITS Infrastructure Team while collaborating closely with the IT Director and other service leads to identify opportunities for improvement, implement solutions, and report on the progress of key IT projects.

This is a hands-on leadership role, where you will be responsible for the performance, security, and reliability of the University's IT infrastructure, providing a secure and efficient platform for teaching and learning activities. You will also contribute to the strategic planning of IT services, tackling complex technical challenges and serving as the primary expert in Infrastructure, Integrations, and Cloud technologies.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Take overall management responsibility for the ITS Infrastructure Team, ensuring the delivery of seamless on-prem and cloud services across the University.
  • Service Improvement: Lead initiatives to evaluate and enhance the effectiveness of the University's IT infrastructure, striving to maximize service quality, efficiency, and continuity.
  • Infrastructure Management: Oversee the management of infrastructure, data centres, server hardware, and cloud solutions throughout their product lifecycles. S
  • Strategy & Policy Development: Continuously develop strategies and policies that support the ongoing improvement of the ITS Infrastructure team's effectiveness.
  • Collaboration & Reporting: Work closely with the IT Director and other service leads to identify areas of infrastructure improvement, deliver technical solutions, and keep stakeholders informed about the progress of various IT projects.
  • Expertise & Guidance: Serve as the go-to expert in Infrastructure, Integrations, and Cloud, offering advice and solutions for complex technical challenges.

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience in IT infrastructure management, including hands-on experience with both on-premise and cloud services.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, motivate, and develop a team.
  • In-depth knowledge of data centres, server hardware, cloud solutions (AWS, Azure, etc.), and infrastructure lifecycle management.
  • Experience in strategic planning, service improvement, and policy development.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with internal stakeholders.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Relevant IT certifications (e.g., ITIL, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator).
  • Experience working in an academic or higher education environment.
