Job Description

At Age UK Surrey, we are dedicated to improving the lives of older people across the county, providing services and support that enable independence and enhance wellbeing. We are seeking an experienced Information & Advice Adviser to join our team and help us achieve our mission.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide accurate, impartial, and comprehensive information and advice to older people, their families, and carers.
  • Manage a welfare rights and other matters caseload, ensuring casework is recorded in a timely manner and in line with agreed quality standards.
  • Address various topics, including welfare benefits, housing, social care, financial advice, and local services.
  • Conduct face-to-face, telephone, and email consultations, ensuring a client-centred approach.
  • Assist with completing forms and applications, such as benefits claims and housing requests.
  • Work as part of the wider Age UK Surrey advice and information team ensuring effective cover in services including dealing with emergencies when required.
  • Stay updated on legislation, policy changes, and local services to provide the best support possible.
  • To participate in the development and delivery of referral partnerships and outreach services to reach the most vulnerable older people within Surrey.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and external agencies to deliver holistic support.

What We re Looking For:

  • Proven experience in an information and advice role, ideally within the charity or public sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of benefits, housing, and social care systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a sensitive and empathetic approach.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied workload.
  • Competence in using IT systems and maintaining accurate client records.
  • A commitment to promoting the independence and dignity of older people.
