Health and Safety Officer

12 Month fixed term contract

If you are IOSH/NEBOSH qualified and looking to excellerate your career as a Health and Safety professional within a large organisation, join us as a Health and Safety Officer and be apart of our exciting business growth plans for a 12 month fixed term cover for maternity leave. You'll be based at Fresh direct site, Bicester with occasional travel as required.

As a critical member of the operational team reporting to the General Manager; you'll be dealing with both internal and external stakeholders; who you will build and maintain strong working relationships with. You'll be the first point of contact for all our aspects of site health, safety and environment for food standards assistance throughout the day. We'll rely on you to deal with matters identified within both routine and spot check audits that need attention. We wish to create a culture focused on health and safety in everything we do. Depot Management teams will look to you to share findings with a solution focused mindset providing advice, support and guidance to ensure adherence to the Health and Safety policies for the region. You'll maintain a schedule to ensure department training is completed on time and in full, and report gaps and non-compliance to the General Manager, updating training system records accordingly. This is a busy role, and no 2 days will be the same!

To join us as our new Health and Safety Officer you will require experience in a similar role alongside holding a industry recognised qualification such as IOSH/NEBOSH general certificate. You'll can expect to complete a wide range of office tasks including checking and verifying documents using both paper-based systems and software packages. You will have excellent attention to detail and full integrity to maintain accurate records following regular audits and checks of all areas of the site, managing multiple projects and priorities; acting upon them accordingly to ensure timely rectification accordingly. Above all you will be customer focused and have the ability to defuse any conflict that may arise in a high pressure situation with empathy and willingness to learn.
