Job: Head of Science

School: Secondary Academy, Bexley, Southeast London

Annual Salary: Enhanced MPS/UPS including Outer London Allowance + TLR2 (£36,469 -£54,055 + £8,279)

Contract: Permanent, full-time

Start date: January 2025 or April 2025

Aston Education is working with an Ofsted Good 11-18 secondary Academy in Bexley, in Southeast London bordering Kent. They are looking for a permanent Head ofScienceto start in January or April 2025.

The school have a maximum teaching load of 25 periods per week (based on a full-time teacher with no responsibilities) which is lower than the national average of 27. For this role, your maximum will be 21.

As a Head of Science, you'll lead the delivery of high-quality, engaging Science education across key stages 3, 4 and 5. You'll plan and deliver outstanding lessons and inspire and motivate students of all abilities to achieve their full potential.

The Science department uses adaptive teaching strategies and multiple representations to drive the understanding of their students.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a deep understanding of the Science curriculum and a passion for sharing your knowledge with others. You will need to be an excellent communicator with QTS/QTLS. Applications from Physics or Chemistry specialists would be particularly welcomed.
