Head of Physics
We are seeking to appoint a committed and experienced individual as Head of Physics. The Physics department is one of the strongest in the country with ten full time physicists covering a wide range of research interests and backgrounds. We pride ourselves on our openness and support for each other's teaching, and our willingness to contribute ideas and make suggestions on the best way to approach any topic. We also have two full time technicians who help us to integrate the practical aspects of physics with the more theoretical. The position would suit a serving Head of Department or an experienced teacher with a track record of transferable experience. The successful candidate will have a strong academic profile, excellent subject knowledge and the ability to stretch our best and brightest students.
The School's salary scale is substantially above the national scale.
Further details can be obtained from the School's website button below via the 'Work with us' link in the footer, or by email from the HR department.
Please feel free to contact the current Head of Physics, Dr Ryan Buckingham, if you would like to discuss any aspect of the post, or the School in general.
The closing date for all applications is 9am Thursday 27 February 2025.
Interviews will take place on Tuesday 4 March 2025.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.
Our vision is to nurture a generation of Paulines that will make a positive contribution to the world; our three pillars of Scholarship, Opportunity and Character are the foundation of all that we do and we actively focus on five core character traits: Respect, Kindness, Humility, Integrity and Resilience.
We value diversity, equality and inclusion, and are committed to creating an environment where all members of our community can appreciate and benefit from this.
It is our expectation that the values of all applicants align with our values.
