The role
Streatham and Clapham High School (SCHS) is looking for an exceptional and dynamic teacher to oversee the smooth running of our vibrant Mathematics department.
As Head of Mathematics, you will effectively lead and manage the department on a day-to-day basis, fostering a culture of high expectations, collaboration, and innovation to ensure the delivery of outstanding teaching and learning. To achieve this, you will spearhead departmental strategies that meet the needs of all our learners, whilst also working with your colleagues to ensure continuity and progression within our varied curriculum.
In addition to your departmental responsibilities, you will deliver stimulating and engaging maths lessons to students, helping to raise attainment and promote the subject to students across the school.
About you
You will be a well-qualified teacher with previous experience of teaching Key Stage 3, (I)GCSE, FSMQ, A Level Mathematics and A Level Further Mathematics. You will also possess excellent professional and subject knowledge, as well as excellent leadership and management skills, strong behaviour management skills and the ability to inspire excellent attainment in the subject.
The Mathematics department
The Mathematics department is lively and thriving and all six of our staff members deliver a shared vision promoting excellence in mathematics and inspiring students' love of the subject. The Head of Department will also be supported and assisted by two Key Stage Coordinators. The department currently follows Pearson's IGCSE Mathematics and FSMQ at Key Stage 4 and OCR A Levels in Mathematics and Further Mathematics at Key Stage 5.
