Job Description

Goodman Masson are delighted to be partnered with The Royal College of Music to recruit for their new Head of Finance.

Founded in 1882, The Royal College of Music (RCM) is a world leading music conservatoire with a prestigious history and contemporary outlook. Their excellence was recognised by the 2024 QS World University Rankings, in which they were ranked as the global No. 1 institution for both Music and Performing Arts. The College has held this world-leading place in Performing Arts for the three successive years, while Music is a new subject introduced to the rankings this year.

The Royal College of Music is seeking to recruit a Head of Finance to lead the College's finance function supported by a small and experienced team. This is a pivotal role, working with senior staff across the College, with a high degree of autonomy and the potential to shape the future of the finance support function. They are looking for candidates with the following attributes:

  • You should be a qualified accountant and an experienced manager within a finance function
  • You will be highly IT literate with experience of managing finance systems, and will be keen to take responsibility for the strategic direction of financial support within the College
  • You will understand the importance of an effective system of financial and budgetary control
  • You will also be confident in your technical accounting knowledge and able to lead the production of the College's annual financial statements. Higher Education or Charity experience would be particularly useful
  • You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • You will be very accurate with good attention to detail, able to adhere to regulatory requirements and deadlines

Salary range for the role is £63,000 - £70,000 Depending on Experience + Excellent Benefits including

  • 35 days annual leave + Bank Holidays
  • Pension Scheme - The Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS) - 14.5% Employer contributions

The role is based in South Kensington with hybrid working on offer.
