About us

This is an exciting time to join the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham as we continue to deliver things for our residents. We have built more than 2,500 affordable homes, opened the first Future Youth Zone, driven up educational attainment and secured £4bn of inward investment with the arrival of film studios, a data centre, UCL Pearl and the City of London Markets all bringing jobs and economic growth to the area. Despite this, we remain one of London's poorest boroughs and our community has a range of needs, exacerbated by the cost-of-living crisis. Our community is one of the most ethnically and culturally diverse communities in London, with a high proportion of young people and young families. Our desire to create and foster opportunities for people to thrive here is a key reason for this post. We value the diversity of people who live, work and visit Barking and Dagenham and it is our vision is to create a place where people understand, respect and celebrate each other's differences. In addition to this, we offer a competitive pay package, a positive approach to flexible working, investment in your learning and development as well as a commitment to your wellbeing.
