Role: GitHub SME/Architect
Location: Remote (Must be UK-Based)
Duration: 6 months - Outside IR35

GitHub SME Responsibilities
- Ownership of GitHub Enterprise.
- Expert Guidance: Serve as the go-to GitHub expert, providing insights and best practices for repository management, branching strategies, and workflow design.
- Training and Enablement: Deliver training sessions, workshops, and documentation to empower teams to effectively leverage GitHub features.
- Compliance and Governance: Implement policies for repository access, code reviews, and approvals, ensuring alignment with security and governance standards.
- Collaboration: Work closely with development teams, DevOps engineers, and stakeholders to understand their needs and deliver tailored solutions.
GitHub SME Requirements
Essential:
- Extensive experience with GitHub, including Enterprise-level subscriptions.
- Great understanding of Security and Compliance.
- Experience working in large, scaled businesses.
- Deep understanding of Git workflows (eg, Gitflow, trunk-based development) and branching strategies.
- Familiarity with CI/CD practices and tools, such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proven track record of implementing GitHub at scale across teams.
Desirable:
- Experience with GitHub Advanced Security (eg, code scanning, secret scanning).
- A coding background and understanding of version control.
- Knowledge of automation Scripting (eg, Python, Bash) for workflow enhancement.
- Certification in GitHub Administration or DevOps practices.
