Hays are working in partnership with a leading provider of natural gas services in Northern Ireland, seeking to appoint a GIS Asset Officer for their Belfast office.Our client operates the largest local natural gas distribution network, working with industry partners to provide low carbon energy solutions, using its existing infrastructure to deliver renewable gas supporting a net-zero carbon future. The company manages a gas network, ensuring development, maintenance, and a 24/7 operation and transportation platform for suppliers and consumers in the country.
Your new role
The primary role of a GIS Asset Officer is to assist in updating, maintaining, and developing the company's GIS.Key Accountabilities:
The GIS Asset Officer will update and maintain ArcGIS to ensure compliance with legislation, perform quality audits on as-built data, conduct data analysis and queries within GIS, arrange and monitor site audits, investigate historical queries, and perform site visits. Additionally, the officer will transfer weekly GIS data to engineering laptops, update LPS geography using GIS, complete quarterly data extracts and imports, provide cover for the Plant Protection Officer and contractors, update databases and spreadsheets, print maps for internal departments, and handle general filing duties.

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in the GIS Asset Officer role, it is essential that the candidates must have GIS experience or a 1-year engineering background. It would be desirable if the candidate has completed an ESRI ArcGIS course, knowledge of AutoCAD, and a degree with a GIS module/course are advantageous.The ideal candidate should be capable of working independently and as part of a team, possess excellent communication skills, have strong IT skills (particularly with Microsoft packages), and hold a full valid EU/UK driving licence.
