Role description:

The General Accounting Specialist role is within the General Ledger Accounting team based in the Netherlands and is part of the wider Arcadis Global Onshore and Accounting Finance community.
This role will be part of the team responsible for standardised financial reporting, implementing, and maintaining an effective and efficient framework of operational general ledger accounting and statutory compliance with established company policies, generally accepted accounting principles and local regulations.
Working in the General Accounting team, the role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely completion of accounting close activities for Netherlands entities that ultimately drive financial information and reporting on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis.

The General Accounting Specialist reports directly to the General Accounting Director Netherlands.

Role accountabilities:

  • Support month-end, quarter-end and year-end close activities to ensure timely financial reporting.
  • Perform journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Support AP and procurement processes.
  • Effectively collaborate with (Global) Business Area Finance Teams, Global Accounting teams and other cross-functional teams to ensure completeness and accuracy in transactions and close process, which includes preparing monthly financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement, and other financial reports.
  • Assist with the internal and external Audits.
  • Support the intercompany accounting and reporting process, including intercompany invoicing, reconciliations, journal entries, and quarterly intercompany balance matching.
  • Provide support on current accounting standards, CWK processes and local statutory and tax requirements that have an impact on accounting operations.
  • Ensuring compliance with local legislation and other regulatory requirements.
  • Performing other duties and responsibilities as required from time to time by your manager and Arcadis.
  • Participate in the ERP Oracle improvement projects.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree in Accounting/Finance.
  • Solid knowledge of accounting standards.
  • Audit experience and tax accounting is an advantage.
  • Experience in financial accounting and in a Shared Service environment preferable.
  • Knowledge and experience in an international and multi-currency environment.
  • Oracle, OneStream ERP systems and Excel high proficiency experience.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
