Job Description

Located between Cambridge and Stansted and nestled within the Essex countryside, the Quendon Estate is a delightful example of a quintessential English rural estate. Extending to over 2,700 acres (1,100 hectares) of commercial arable land, Maces Farms is run as an in-hand farming operation growing a variety of crops including Milling Wheat, Feed Wheat, Spring Wheat, Barley, Oats, Beans and Sugar Beet.

We are excited to be recruiting for a new permanent position to join our small friendly team. The role will mainly focus on assisting the farm manager and existing arable operator on the day to day running of the farm and general estate work. Ideally the candidate will be passionate about agriculture, hardworking, reliable, have a keen eye for detail and value the importance of health and safety.

Responsibilities to include:

• Primary and Secondary cultivations

• Fertiliser Application

• Relief Spray Operator; Relief Combine Operator; Relief Drill Operator

• Maintenance and servicing of farm machinery as required

• Ensure safe use of all machinery

• Estate maintenance such as mowing, strimming, hedge trimming and general repairs

• To assist with general maintenance of estate lettings as required

Essential:

• Over 21 years old

• Full Clean Driving Licence

• Minimum Level 3 Diploma in Agriculture or equivalent experience

• PA1, PA2 and PA4 Certificates

• UK Telehandler Certificate

• 5 years' experience in arable farming

• Ability to use modern machinery, equipment and technology such as GPS

• Self-motivated reliable team player with ability to work alone or within a team

• Excellent attention to detail

• Excellent time management skills

• Excellent communication skills

Desired:

• Chainsaw Licence

• PA6 Certificate

• Excellent workshop skills with ability to carry out machinery and general farm/ estate repairs

• Problem solving and analytical skills

• Computer and IT skills
