Financial Operations Analyst
Our Corporate Functions are made up of teams that support Expedia Group, including Employee Communications, Finance, Legal, People Team, Inclusion and Diversity, and Global Social Impact and Sustainability.
This position is part of the Expedia Partner Services (EPS) Accounting Operations team, which has office representation in Springfield, MO (USA) and Madrid (Spain) and will be located in Madrid, Spain supporting our Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region.
The Financial Operations Analyst role is responsible for certain Accounts Payable (AP) activities supporting the payment of monthly marketing fees for our EPS partners. This role serves as a subject matter expert within our team and helps to provide ongoing training and support to other team members.
In this role, you will:
- Prepare and peer-review updates to partners' contract terms in Commercial Terms Management for new business and amendments/changes
- Prepare and peer-review manual calculation files to support non-standard contracts as needed, including upload and approval of files in Commissions Control Center
- Prepare and peer-review journal entries as needed and General Ledger Balance Sheet reconciliations to support month-end close processes
- Develop a solid understanding of relevant team SOX controls and helps to build and maintain documentation, including peer review of SOX evidence as needed
- Help to onboard and train new hires, including developing and maintaining frameworks for updates to team training and process documentation
- Leads internal team (peer) meetings, projects and documents action items for follow-up, including helping to maintain region-specific documentation based on external meetings with our internal stakeholders
- Research and respond to Account Manager questions in email and Salesforce about partner marketing fees
- Identify issues with marketing fee calculations, and support resolution
- Meet departmental expectations and timelines, and other duties as assigned
Experience and qualifications:
- 1 to 5 years of previous accounting and reconciliation experience preferred
- Have prior experience working in an Accounts Payable, Accounting (or similar accounting/back office) team. SOX experience is a plus, but this is not an audit role!
- Proficient in English language, Spanish preferred
- Strong Excel skills and experience with other Microsoft products
- Experience with ERP systems Oracle or other large ERP system, Oracle Business Intelligence, Tableau and other query tools like Looker are a plus
- Like to solve complex problems; for example, assisting Account Managers with complex contract, payment and calculation questions
- Great attention to detail, organized, efficient, and ability to multi-task ; you stay curious and have a proactive approach to problem-solving
