Job Description

Job Title: Financial Control Officer

Salary Range: £34,292- £45,763 per annum

Permanent -Fulltime

Location: Wandsworth Town Hall, Wandsworth High St, London, SW18 2PU

Objective of role

Your role will be reporting to the corporate centre with responsibility for developing effective and efficient financial and administrative systems. This will include providing a professional and effective financial administration and support serviceto the Adult Social Care and Public Health Division and the Children's Services Division.

About the role

You will assist the Financial Controller in maintaining the financial stability of both of our organisations for the future, supporting with the production of monthly statements, completion of government returns,and monitoring capital budgets to meet the key priorities of both Councils.

You will assist in developing effective and efficient financial and administrative systems to ensure that the service department can fulfil its financial responsibilities and providing a professional and effective financial administration and support service towards ensuring that adults and children in our community obtain an excellent service.

No two days in finance are the same, you'll be joining a supportive integrated team that offers the opportunity to develop and learn new skills as different challenges present themselves.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • A good understanding of basic accounting principles and budgetary control withrelevant experience in an accounting role in local government.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to maintaining and improving the quality of services provided.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and prioritise tasks to deliver on service goals and ambitions is a must.
  • Proficient IT skills to use spreadsheets, financial systems and other relevant packages for analysis and presentation.
  • Currently studying/ with relevant experience.
