Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Finance Lawyer to join a dynamic legal team within one of the world's leading financial institutions. This role focuses on providing high-quality legal advice and support on a wide range of corporate and institutional lending and trade finance activities. This position is crucial for supporting Global Banking and Capital Markets in the UK and across the EMEA region, ensuring smooth execution of complex transactions and effective management of legal risks.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing pro-active, effective, and timely legal support to Global Banking businesses, including complex financing transactions.
  • Leading and managing a variety of Global Banking and Financing transactions, including working closely with senior business stakeholders to structure deals, draft, negotiate, and execute legal documents.
  • Overseeing the workload of the UK Financing Legal team and coordinating with other legal teams globally.
  • Acting as the deputy for the Head of Financing Legal UK when required, helping with team management and project oversight.
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with business stakeholders to ensure a high-quality service is delivered.
  • Supporting and mentoring junior members of the legal team, providing guidance, setting objectives, and overseeing their project work.
  • Managing external legal counsel and ensuring their work aligns with the firm's objectives.
  • Representing the legal function in internal and external industry forums and groups.
  • Assisting in the rollout of legal tools and training within the team, ensuring the effective sharing of expertise and resources.

Key Requirements

  • Qualified Lawyer with expertise in English Finance Law
  • Extensive experience in banking and finance law, including corporate bilateral and syndicated lending, structured lending, real estate finance, fund finance, and project/infrastructure finance.
  • Strong working knowledge of relevant legal regulations, policies, and best practices within the UK/EMEA market.
  • Excellent commercial acumen, communication, and relationship management skills, with a proven ability to engage with senior business stakeholders.
  • Experience in leading legal teams and mentoring junior lawyers on complex transactions.
  • Ability to effectively manage external legal counsel and align their output with the business's needs.
