More about your role

Derwent FM is expanding in York, partnering with two new colleges to elevate the student experience by maintaining clean, safe, and welcoming accommodations. As a Bin & Refuse Collector, you'll be a key part of our mission to keep our campuses at Heslington East in top condition. This permanent role requires working outdoors in all weather conditions to manage refuse collection, maintain cleanliness, and support the internal cleaning team during busy periods. Your contributions will directly impact the daily environment and satisfaction of our student residents

More about you

The perfect candidate will be hands-on, dependable team player who enjoys physical work and takes pride in keeping spaces clean and organised. You don't mind working outside in all types of weather, and you're happy to lend a hand indoors when needed. You're comfortable with teamwork and ready to step in to help our cleaning team maintain high standards across all areas. A background that values diversity and inclusivity is important to us, and we encourage applicants from all backgrounds to apply!

Experience & Skills

Physical Fitness - This is an active role, requiring strength to move heavy bins and work on your feet.

Teamwork-Oriented - Willingness to support the cleaning operatives with internal cleaning tasks during peak times.

Dependable and Detail-Oriented - Able to keep communal spaces, bin stores, and surrounding areas clean, tidy, and safe.

Bonus Skills - Previous experience in cleaning or facilities maintenance is helpful, but we provide full training for the right candidate.

Positive Attitude - Comfortable working outdoors year-round, with a practical mindset (a tolerance for occasional spider sightings is a plus!).
