Estimator/Quantity Surveyor - London - Prepare accurate cost estimates and manage costs for fit-out projects

They are a main contractor offering tailored solutions for delivering fit out, construction, and maintenance contracts within the office, retail and hospitality industries.

Your new role
As an Estimator/Quantity Surveyor, you will take over estimating, costing and material procurement responsibilities. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Evaluate project specifications, drawings, and documents to grasp project scope and requirements.
  • Preparing accurate cost estimates for tenders and projects including materials, labour, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  • Conduct market analysis to secure competitive pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Sourcing materials, negotiating prices, and placing orders with suppliers in line with the procurement program.
  • Monitoring budgets and ensuring cost control.

  • Maintaining supplier relationships and keeping material records updated.
  • Attend site meetings.
  • Manage project costs throughout the project lifecycle, and handle final account negotiations.
  • Identify project risks and opportunities, recommending mitigation or capitalisation strategies.
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders to ensure estimates align with project goals and budgets.
  • Maintain accurate records of estimates, quotes, and correspondence for easy accessibility.

    What you'll need to succeed
  • Estimating or Quantity Surveying experience in construction, focusing on commercial fit-out, fast track fit-out or high-end residential projects.
  • Proven experience in estimating and procurement within construction, particularly with multi-trade experience.
  • Degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • Relevant professional certifications such as RICS, CIOB are advantageous.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in estimating software/tools like CostX, Bluebeam, Stack, or similar.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interpret construction drawings.
  • Solid understanding of construction methods, materials, a range of packages and regulations.
  • Effective time management and organisational abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
