Job Description

Engineering Trainer

Billingham based (Home of McCoy's, Wheat Crunchies, pombear and more)


As Engineering Trainer this is a great opportunity to mould the shape of Teesside engineering and operational technical teams for generations to come. Continually improving engineering capability, mentoring apprentices and developing operations Advanced Team Members. This is a cross-functional role, working with all levels of the business. The role is days based but will involve some flexibility to deliver business needs occasionally required across other shifts.


What will you be doing?

  • Be a key part of the Engineering Team & E&T Team to deliver appropriate, cost efficient and compliant training for the business
  • Coordination and Delivery of Engineering Skill Development (Mechanical and Electrical) by writing and delivering training or by engaging the most appropriate external specialist to cover the following areas:

- Pneumatics

- PLC systems including Siemens, SCADA and invertors

- PTW Systems

- Packaging and Taping Machines (Ishida, TNA, Hayssen and Sandiacres)

- Metal Detection (Lock)

- Hand tools

- Relevant Engineering Systems


  • Mentor the Engineering apprentices and support translation of formal learning into the workplace
  • Liaising with College/University teams to ensure apprentice program progress
  • Facilitate/coach/mentor the development of the maintenance team and Engineering Owners to improve capability and multi-skill the team for the improvement of the business and the team
  • Identify and deliver Train the trainer programme to enable the delivery of engineering skills & operations team skills training at an appropriate level across the business
  • Develop, where appropriate E&T material and packages that can be delivered by a Train the Trainer to deliver the right level of technical result
  • Be flexible to support and deliver against business priorities arising from Intersnack Work Systems and the Site Objectives
  • Support the wider E&T team to meet the business objectives including audits and pillar health checks
  • Site responsible person for PUWER
  • Team member of E&T and PM Pillar to engage with key stakeholders

We're really keen to hear from you if you can demonstrate the following:



  • Electrical Engineering Expertise: NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent and time-served experience in an electrical trade, with a strong understanding of GMP and Food Safety in manufacturing.
  • Training & Facilitation Skills: Proven ability to deliver and facilitate training, assess needs, create training materials, and effectively coach and improve team skills.
  • Training Program Design: Competency in designing training programs that continuously build capability, with high proficiency in relevant software (e.g., PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint).
  • Health, Safety & Compliance Awareness: Solid knowledge of Health & Safety requirements and current GMP within manufacturing/engineering operations.
  • Organisational & Time Management Skills: Highly organised, with strong time management, prioritisation, and the ability to multitask accurately and efficiently.
