The job:

Discover impactful work as our new Field Service Engineer (FSE). As an FSE, your responsibilities will include delivering service activities (including Installations, Repairs, Maintenance Services, Tech Support etc.) for Unity Lab Services, supporting our Chromatography and Gas Mass Spectrometry instruments primarily across Ireland, but with occasional travel across the region of UK, EU and US for training purposes, for the purpose of delivering:

  • A high level of customer service resulting in customer happiness
  • High first-time fix rates and low mean time to repair
  • Low repeated call rates

In addition, you will support our overall Service Targets with respect to Bookings, Revenues, Service Profit and Overhead Cost while following all internal rules, processes, and practices.

What will you do:

To perform Field Service Duties as follows:

  • Work following protocols, customer regulations and Health and Safety Guidelines
  • Provide support on Chromatography, SP and DIA instruments (80%)
  • Remote work exceeding customer expectations
  • Build highest professional relationship with our customers
  • Follow our ethical business conduct guidelines
  • Enable customer success through partnering with Thermo Fisher Scientific
  • Utilise sales lead tools to offer customers our products and services (5%)
  • Coordinate work schedule with Dispatch Team, Team Leader and Manager (5%)
  • Responsible for company assets including parts inventory, laptop computer, mobile phone, test equipment (ensuring validation calibration), tools, software, company car etc. (5%)
  • Responsible for timely and accurate reporting of activities including field service reports and expenses reports (5%)

Who we are looking for:

  • Background in Chemistry/Physics/Electronics/Engineering or related subjects.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience servicing analytical equipment.
  • Equivalent applications specialist or end user experience will also be considered as valuable experience. Knowledge of Mass Spectrometry, Liquid Chromatography or Gas Chromatography an advantage, but not essential.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to balance multiple tasks with different priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, self-motivational and negotiating skills.
  • Proficient levels of PC literacy.
  • Valid UK Driving Licence.
  • Willing and able to travel 5 days a week within territory, Monday to Friday with occasional nights away from home.
  • Good English skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work across all levels, functions, and regions.
