Job Description

Are you an experienced Electrical Maintenance Technician based in or around Hartlepool? We have a permanent position available at TATA Steel's Hartlepool site, ideal for someone with strong problem-solving skills who is motivated, approachable, and highly skilled in their field.

Role: Electrical Maintenance TechnicianLocation: TATA Steel, Hartlepool Works, Brenda Rd, Hartlepool TS25 2EGSalary: £33,128 basic + 27.5% shift allowance (£9,110), totaling £42,238, rising to £46,395 (inclusive of shift allowance) upon demonstrating site-specific competencies.Shift Pattern: 12-hour shifts (2 days, 2 nights, 4 days off)

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assisting the engineering team with preventive maintenance, installations, and breakdowns
  • Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards and procedures
  • Performing all tasks with a strong commitment to safety
  • Adhering to statutory and mandatory safety regulations, procedures, and policies
  • Providing first-line technical expertise to diagnose and fix faults in complex systems, minimizing downtime
  • Proposing and implementing improvements to process control systems
  • Ensuring deficiencies are promptly and effectively repaired to prevent recurrence
Essential Requirements:
  • Recognized Electrical Maintenance Qualification (Level 3, BTEC, NC, NVQ, or equivalent) or completion of an electrical apprenticeship
  • Experience with overhead cranes and related safety systems
  • Expertise with AC/DC motor and gearbox drive systems
  • Ability to interpret electrical drawings
  • Proficiency with PLC systems (Siemens & Allen Bradley) and HMIs
  • Experience with variable speed motor controls, including inverters, converters, and speed feedback devices
  • Strong problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively
  • IT literacy
  • Self-motivated and proactive
