About the role
Energia, part of Energia Group, have an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Engineering Manager based in Huntstown Power Station.
This new role will report into the Senior Project Manager in the delivery of a major 220 kV GIS cable connected substation with multiple 220 / 20 kV transformers and switchgear to feed the adjacent large energy demand partner.
The project will involve working with a number of different stakeholders including EirGrid, ESB Networks, Energia's Project team, Owner's Engineer team, EPC contractors and equipment manufacturers. As this team is in growth phase, this role presents an exciting opportunity to join at the early stages of project development and plays a vital role in our contribution to the energy transition.

Your key responsibilities and accountabilities
Day-to-day, here's what your new role would look like:
• Support the Senior Project Manager and Project Board in all aspects of project delivery and contract management to ensure that electrical engineering elements of the contestable grid infrastructure and 220 / 20 kV substation are delivered on time, within budget and to the expected quality standard.
• Lead and develop a team to assist with the delivery of all electrical engineering aspects of the project.
• Manage all aspects of the EirGrid and ESBN contestable and non-contestable grid connection works from design, construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning, energisation, through to hand over to EirGrid / ESB and the Energia Operations Team.
• Management of contractors, EirGrid / ESB and Owner's Engineer to ensure the successful delivery of the Substation project
• Manage electrical design review to identify design gaps and deviations or contradictions in project specifications.
• Manage technical assessments and technical issues to resolve without delay to maintain project programme.
• Monitor submittals through the approvals process, track procurement and delivery of key long lead items.
• Attend weekly and monthly EirGrid, ESB and contractor meetings to ensure that progress of the electrical works is monitored & maintained in accordance with overall construction programme.
• Manage the review and response to technical queries during the construction and commissioning phases in relation to specifications / drawings / materials / equipment.
• Witness site acceptance tests for all major electrical plant and attend factory acceptance tests where required.
• Prepare and present project progress reports.
Our key criteria
These are the qualifications, experience, skills, or knowledge you must have:
• Third level qualification in Electrical Engineering or similar discipline.
• Demonstrable experience of delivering 110 / 220 kV electrical infrastructure projects including EirGrid / ESBN contestable and non-contestable grid connections.
• Demonstrated specialist skill level of high-level design, specification and construction of high voltage GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear), AIS (Air Insulated Switchgear), power transformer and underground cable projects.
• Current driving license and access to a car.
Our desirable criteria

• Chartered Engineer and current membership of professional body (e.g. IEI, IET, etc.)
• Project Management qualification.
• Experience of leading and developing teams.
