Job Description

About The Role:

We are working with a mid-sized, international architecture practice who boast an impressive portfolio of projects across various sectors. They are looking for a Document Controller to join their team in London.

You will be responsible for the distribution of documents and drawings in addition to developing, implementing and managing the company's document control processes and procedures. The ideal person will have previous experience in the architecture/design/built environment and will be a confident document control professional who enjoys a hands-on approach.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide document control support, ensuring project information aligns with client, contractual, and QMS requirements
  • Implement a structured approach to managing project data and information flow
  • Manage and track all incoming and outgoing drawings and technical documents
  • Facilitate the transfer of submission documents between internal and external server portals
  • Ensure accurate filing of all documents and drawings according to project systems and structures
  • Prepare and issue drawing sheets and ensure proper submission of technical documents
  • Track returned drawings, submittals, and follow up on responses as needed
  • Log all outgoing drawings and documents while monitoring project workflows to meet deadlines
  • Assist project teams with the distribution of drawings and documents in both digital and paper formats

Key Skills/Requirements:

  • Proven background as a document controller, ideally in architecture, construction, or engineering
  • Advanced proficiency with electronic document management systems (e.g., Aconex, Conject, 4projects)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High typing speed and accuracy
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent filing and organisational abilities
  • Industry-specific knowledge, including terminology, policies, and processes
  • Methodical and highly organised
