Your new role
This is an opportunity for a holder of Responsible Individual status to take on an External Audit Director position. You will be responsible for overseeing and strategically managing teams and auditing some of the UK's best known large and complex organisations. You will have responsibility for taking forward a number of audits in the Companies Act portfolio.
Providing strategic oversight of the delivery of high quality external audit work from large teams with a wide range of experience, including highly experienced senior members. In this role you will support effective accountability and scrutiny, engaging with senior stakeholders in the organisations within the portfolio. You will take responsibility for the direction of the work, collaborating with peers, and the wider organisation to add value and make a difference to the effectiveness and efficiency of the work delivered.
As a role model to the team under your direction, you will manage and motivate financial audit teams to deliver audit work that is both high quality and delivers insight to help improve public services. With extensive access to knowledge hubs and centres of expertise to identify ways of adding real value to the portfolio of organisations within your responsibility whilst supporting the delivery of the organisational development strategy and plan.

What you'll need to succeed
You will hold a relevant financial qualification (CCAB) with recent post-qualification experience in leading external audit in line with ISAs, hold Responsible Individual status allowing you to be appointed as statutory auditor under the Companies Act 2006 (or the ability to acquire by December 2024). Demonstrable skills are needed in leading the delivery of high quality audit work across a range of clients to competing deadlines, leading through others, while protecting the welfare of the wider team.
Your ability to build and manage both internal and external relationships, engaging executive level stakeholders effectively and have well-honed skills in negotiation and influencing to ensure the maximum success of the work.
