Job Description

We're looking for a Development Specialist to join us on a fixed-term basis to design, deliver, evaluate, and manage the development interventions required to deliver our Climate Action commitments.

We know the challenges of the climate crisis represent some of the biggest and most urgent threats to the special places we love. However, we also know we're in a unique position, where we're able to stand up and play our part in responding to the impacts of our changing climate.

Responding to climate change is one of our top priorities and key strategic ambitions: 'addressing the challenges presented by climate change will ensure that we remain at the forefront of what matters to people and that we are best able to care for our places'.

What it's like to work here

We want everyone to feel confident, capable and committed in actively playing their part to make a difference for our climate. There is a huge demand for training in this area and you'll be working with members of the climate action programme to help understand and meet the learning needs of our diverse teams.

Your contractual location will be our head office in Swindon and there will be an expectation for you to attend the office. However, there is flexibility on where you're based at other times. You'll be required to work at a National Trust location for 40-60% of your working week. This will be discussed in more detail at interview.

What you'll be doing

Reporting to the Organisational Development Manager for Climate Action, you'll work with Senior Leaders and Subject Matter Experts from across the Trust, delivering leadership, team and organisational development interventions aligned to our climate action principles.

You'll support key programmes of work such as leadership development and learning interventions that build climate confidence in our teams whilst maintaining effective and collaborative working relationships as a trusted adviser, whose credibility and experience drives performance and adds value.

You can view the full role profile for this role in the document attached. You don't need to have all the knowledge, skills and experience listed in the role profile; this is just to provide a full picture of what is possible in this role.

Who we're looking for

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

  • Experience in driving change by leading, coaching and inspiring colleagues
  • Ability to design high quality blended learning across all delivery methods, including facilitated, digital, eLearning, virtual and face to face
  • Problem solving skills with an adaptable approach to driving improvements
  • Networking experience, building effective & collaborative working relationships
  • Experience in working on Climate Action or sustainability

The package

The National Trust has the motto 'For everyone, for ever' at its heart. We're working hard to create an inclusive culture, where everyone feels they belong. It's important that our people reflect and represent the diversity of the communities and audiences we serve. We welcome and value difference, so when we say we're for everyone, we want everyone to be welcome in our teams too.
