Job Description

Job Title: Data Cabling Engineer
Location: Hereford, UK
Day rate: £200-250 - CIS/Limited company or PAYE/Umbrella (contractor can choose)
Pay frequency: Weekly
Start date: November/December but can be flexible
Standard hours: Mon-Fri 8am-4.30pm (8 hours per day, with 30 minutes for lunch & 2x 15 minute breaks)

We are assisting a growing organisation who operate in the government and defence sector. They are currently looking for a team of SC Cleared Data Cabling Engineers and Cable Pullers for their client in Hereford.

Role
The Data Cabling Engineer Team will play a crucial role in the installation, termination, and fault finding of data cabling onsite. This position involves working in a team of structured Data Cabling Engineers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality work and maintaining excellent customer service standards. The Data Cabling Engineer Team will collaborate closely with Supervisors and Project Managers on day-to-day operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform cable pulling, laying, and associated testing for both copper and fibre optic cabling, including fault finding and proactive resolution.
  • Install, test, and terminate Cat6 copper and fibre optic cabling
  • Work alongside Supervisors and Project Managers to ensure adherence to project deadlines.
  • Read and interpret drawings to translate into practical work.
  • Report progress, site delays, and issues to Supervisors & Project Managers.
  • Ensure all works are carried out according to job sheet specifications and company expectations.
  • Adapt to additional duties as required, within the individuals capabilities and consistent with the roles responsibilities.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Proven experience in data cabling installation and termination, particularly with Cat6 and fibre optic cables.
  • Valid ECS or CSCS card
  • Valid SC Clearance
  • Strong fault-finding skills and proactive problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
