Job Overview

As a User Experience and Content Designer, you will play a key role in designing and improving digital services for public use. This role combines expertise in content creation and user-centred design to deliver seamless, accessible, and engaging digital experiences. Working in collaboration with cross-functional teams, you will ensure all services and content meet user needs, comply with accessibility standards, and align with organisational goals.

Key Responsibilities User Experience (UX) Design
  • Apply user-centred design principles to develop accessible and user-friendly digital services.
  • Conduct user research to identify needs, behaviours, and challenges.
  • Design user journeys that ensure seamless task completion and intuitive navigation.
  • Develop wireframes, prototypes, and mock-ups to illustrate design ideas.
  • Maintain UX documentation such as personas and user journey maps.
  • Collaborate with product managers, developers, and stakeholders to ensure technical feasibility.
Content Design
  • Develop clear, concise, and engaging content for websites, applications, and digital interfaces.
  • Ensure all content meets accessibility standards and is aligned with brand voice and tone.
  • Translate complex information into user-friendly formats, including guides and forms.
  • Conduct usability testing to validate content effectiveness and refine as needed.
  • Provide training and audits to ensure all digital content adheres to best practices.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with service designers, developers, and stakeholders to integrate content and UX seamlessly into digital products.
  • Advocate for user-centric design throughout the product life cycle.
Testing and Optimisation
  • Conduct usability testing to validate designs and gather actionable feedback.
  • Use analytics tools to assess performance and optimise content and design for user engagement.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accessibility and legal standards.
Key Skills and Qualifications
  • Proven experience in UX design, content design, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in design and prototyping tools (eg, Figma, Adobe Creative Suite) and content management systems.
  • Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to create simple, clear content.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive design principles.
  • Experience conducting user research and applying insights to design decisions.
  • Familiarity with analytics tools to track content performance.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills, with experience working in agile environments.
Desired Experience
  • Experience designing public-facing digital services.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and accessibility requirements.
  • Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS is an advantage.
  • Understanding of information architecture and SEO best practices.
