THE ROLE

As the Configuration Manager at Damen Naval, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring our naval shipbuilding projects are executed with precision and compliance. In this new position, you will consolidate the configuration management processes currently delegated throughout the organization to improve consistency and compliance. You will drive change management initiatives to take ownership of configuration management and adapt your improved processes within the organization.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
In this role, your responsibilities will include:

• Develop and improve end-to-end configuration management processes, documenting them in the Damen Naval Management System (DNMS).
• Establish the Configuration Management Plan (CMP) for tenders and projects, aligning with Planning and Finance.
• Coordinate CM processes and chair the Change Control Board.
• Lead CM approach and setup for new projects, aligning with customers, partners, and co-makers.
• Manage configuration data and information exchange with customers, partners, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Audit project configuration deliverables, including product definition, revision control, and distribution of packages.
• Report to management on CM topics and provide solutions and advice.
• Train and coach CM representatives on internal standards.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of CM processes and alignment of department-specific CM processes.
• Support knowledge development, transfer, and retention within the organization.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience leading teams and managing engineering processes for complex systems, within the shipbuilding or manufacturing industry.
• Extensive experience with configuration management, preferably CM-II practitioner/expert
• Demonstrate experience with ISO 10007 and/or AQCAP configuration standards.
• Solid understanding of a variety of engineering concepts and practices (V-Model), preferably in an engineering to order industry.
• Proven ability to inspire, lead, and coach teams in adopting new and improved configuration management practices.
• Demonstrated seniority and charisma to serve as the internal Configuration Management authority within Damen Naval.
• Experience with Configuration Management tooling (Enovia, 3DX) is considered as an asset.
• Excellent command of the English, and preferably also mastering the Dutch language (written & verbal).
• Excellent references, as a security screening is part of the hiring process.
• Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required. Candidates with EU (work) visa or with both an EU and non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible in accordance with the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.
