Job Description

Liverpool Charity and Voluntary Services (LCVS) is a fantastic organisation that supports charities and community groups across Liverpool by providing funding, training, and advice to help them thrive. Sitting at the heart of the city s community, the charity is committed to strengthening the voluntary sector and makes a real difference in improving lives across Liverpool.

LCVS is currently working to support Liverpool City Council (LCC) as a partner for the new Health Determinants Research Collaboration (HDRC). Liverpool is one of only 30 areas across the UK pioneering this new investment from the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) into local government, the programme commenced in January 2024 and will run for a period of 5 years. This transformational programme aims to reduce health inequalities and improve the conditions in which people in Liverpool live, work and play.

The Role

We are seeking a Community Research Involvement Worker, to join the charity s passionate and dedicated team. This is a brand-new role which will manage a unique, pivotal programme

This pivotal role will report directly into the new Chief Executive at LCVS and is a fantastic opportunity to work with diverse and marginalised communities. You will encourage people to actively participate in community-based research, ensuring the voices of local people are heard. This research will then aid future decisions on health issues within the community.

The main duties include:

  • Building and maintaining relationships to engage, involve, and capture intelligence.
  • Organising and conducting community meetings, focus groups, and workshops.
  • Researching, collecting, analysing and interpretting data in a sensitive, ethical manner.
  • Training a wide range of other voluntary organisations to engage the community.
  • Advocating for, and utilising community perspectives to include them in decision making.

The Person

We are looking for someone who has a passion for empowering communities, and promoting health and wellbeing. Ideally, you will have experience in the voluntary sector with a focus on research and exceptional relationship building skills. You should be self-motivated, flexible and adaptable.

The main skills and experience include:

  • Experience in conducting research, as well as capturing and interpreting data.
  • Proven experience of working with diverse (under-represented and vulnerable) communities.
  • Exceptional organisational, project management and communication skills.
  • The ability to facilitate training for other organisations to deliver.
