The Role
We're seeking a dedicated and passionate Climate Change and Environmental professional to spearhead our council's commitment to a sustainable future. This key role will drive our efforts to reduce carbon emissions, mitigate climate change, and enhance our local environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategies to reduce the council's carbon footprint and achieve climate emergency targets.
- Identify and secure external funding for innovative environmental projects, such as energy efficiency upgrades, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and heat network development.
- Manage and optimise the council's utility consumption and billing processes.
- Coordinate the development and implementation of environmental policies and initiatives.
- Represent the council at regional and national forums, collaborating with other local authorities and stakeholders.
- Oversee the Climate & Energy Technical Support Officer and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
- Analyse data, produce reports, and present findings to key stakeholders.
- Promote environmental awareness through public outreach and educational campaigns.
About You
The Ideal Candidate:
- Qualified to degree level.
- A strong understanding of climate change issues and environmental best practices.
- Proven experience in project management, funding applications, and policy development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A collaborative approach and ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
- A passion for sustainability and a commitment to making a positive impact on our planet.
