CLA Social Worker (Child Care Experienced Team)

up to £38.43 in line with ADSS pledge

(all rates in Wales are set in line with the pledge, so rates advertised any differently in Childrens services are not correct)

A Qualified Social Worker is required to join a CLA service based in Bridgend, South Wales for an initial 6 month contract. Pay rate for this role is up to £38.43 per hour in line with the All Wales Pledge. This is ideally a full time position however part time applicants will be considered. Hybrid working arrangements available. When working on site, office base is Bridgend Civic Offices in the town centre.

Primarily, the team has long standing cases where children are subject to care orders placed either in foster care, residential or at home under PWP. The BCBC policy is that safeguarding hubs should not be transferring adoption cases to us until they are searched for at least 6 months. However, BCBC policy is that they take the siblings of children already open to them. They may have a child open to them under PWP and the younger siblings are not open under an order. Some cases will include CP / PLO and court work through proceedings. The team also deal with discharge of care orders which is also court work. In addition, they supervise family time, undertake life story / journey work, deal with duty and all the other day to day practices of social work.

Requirements for this post include:

  • 3 years plus experience
  • Social Care Wales registration or registration with SWE provided application has been submitted to SCW
  • Enhanced DBS references covering childrens and adults services
  • 3 years of referencing

You will required to:

  • Work independently of direct support e.g. attendance at court, child protection case conferences without the presence of a team manager
  • Undertake complex and high-risk cases or arrange complex or high value packages of care.
  • Complete joint work with less experienced staff or other colleagues in highly complex cases involving the liberty or safety of service users.
  • Provide supervision to students and support other staff with students on placement to ensure good quality placements and development of the workforce.
  • Organise and plan duty rotas as required.
