Social Worker - Child Protection - Area Team

up to £35 per hour umbrella company

Bristol Council are currently seeking experienced Social Workers to join their Children and Family area teams, county wide. There are opprortunities available at Symes House, Ridingleaze House and Welsman Office. Bristol offers an opportunity to work in supportive and caring teams. team based in the central Welsman Office. Initial 3 month contracts can be offered with potential to extend and a pay rate of £40 per hour Umbrella company. Drivers required as is a presence in the office full time at the start of the assignment, to get to know the team and build relationships.

The position involves undertaking assessments under S17 & S47 and then working with children in need, with children on a CP plan and with families in pre-proceedings or in the court system. The service is offered by small units made up of a Team Manager, 3 Social Workers, a Family Support Worker and an Assistant. The teams sit together and they do not hot-desk, which makes it great for building rapports with your team. There is good management support across all 3 teams and many opportunities for joint working. The city is vibrant and diverse and the work is varied. There are good Early Intervention Services and support from voluntary agencies in the city. We use a strengths based approach and systemic principals in our work with families. The recording system is Liquid Logic (LCS).

To apply for this role, you will need to hold -

  • A minimum of 6 months experience of working in the UK as a registered social worker
  • A relevant Social Work Qualification
  • Registration with Social Work England
  • Enhanced DBS, registered on the update service or be happy to apply for a DBS
  • 3 Years of referencing - performance references are required at the point of submission to Bristol City Council
  • Driving license with access to a car
