St John Ambulance is a remarkable, well loved, volunteer-powered charitable organisation dedicated to providing first aid education and community response, including medical support at public events and support to the NHS, we also deliver engaging youth programmes throughout England.
With close to 32,000 registered volunteers and around 1,500 employees, the unwavering strength of our people remains the foundation for St John's future success and provides a platform to build on as we continue to restore, consolidate and expand our organisation. Over this past year, we've tackled some significant post-pandemic challenges through an intensive transformation programme designed to secure our financial sustainability well into the future.
As part of these efforts, we are looking to appoint a talented, dynamic, commercially astute Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join us for the next stage of our journey. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, Shona Dunn CB, you will work at the heart of our organisation ensuring operational efficiency and effectiveness across the whole Charity. You will have direct accountability for two of our networks - Enterprise and Clinical Operations - and through your membership of the Executive Committee you will provide visible, dynamic leadership to the Charity overall.
Wherever you are now, you will bring a proven track record of senior leadership, ideally gained in health services, or in organisations in an adjacent sector with comparable scale and complexity. You will have extensive experience of successfully managing significant operations, and a track record of driving operational efficiency and commerciality, as well as of building trusted, productive relationships with internal and external partners. Most importantly, you will demonstrate genuine passion for our mission, and act as a role model for our HEART values.
