Job Description

Are you an experienced credit risk professional looking to make a meaningful impact in managing high-risk customer relationships? We're seeking a Business Support Manager to join our banks Risk & Compliance team. In this role, you will take ownership of the credit management process for customers facing financial difficulties, with a focus on rehabilitation or mitigating losses. You'll also collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to support the bank's strategic goals while maintaining risk integrity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Customer Relationship Management: Lead credit discussions for customers in Watch and Recoveries, deploying restructuring and recovery strategies.
  • Credit Decision Authority: Use delegated authority (DA) to make credit decisions or escalate to senior management for approval where needed.
  • Customer Visits: Conduct site visits to assess project progress, review financials, and engage customers early when signs of financial stress emerge.
  • Credit Restructuring: Recommend loan restructuring options and manage credit documentation and security requirements.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams (eg, Portfolio Managers, Credit Officers) and external recovery specialists to ensure smooth workflows.
  • Risk & Compliance: Ensure adherence to the regulatory framework and conduct standards, maintaining a focus on risk mitigation and operational targets.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Extensive experience in credit risk management within financial services, ideally with a focus on Specialist Mortgages, Development Finance, or SME lending.
  • Proven expertise in restructuring distressed loans and working closely with senior executives on complex credit exposures.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements in both regulated and unregulated lending environments.
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholder relationships, both internally and externally, with excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Proven track record of making balanced, independent credit decisions and driving operational change.
