AWS NodeJS Developer - 24 months - Remote First - CDK, Lambda

Our client, a major UK retail bank, provides every day banking services to over 17 million retail customers. The banks expertise and services span across Business Services, Corporate banking, Wealth Management, Group Functions, Retail and Investment Banking.

On behalf of this organisation, AMS are looking for a Backend Developer for an initial 24-month contract on a 3 year project on a remote-first basis (you must be UK-based for the duration of the assignment).

Purpose of the Role:

An incredibly rare opportunity for a 24-36 month contracting role on a remote-first basis.

The role focuses on Back End development to support a major infrastructure transformation as our client transitions part of their business from a banking license to full FCFS compliance.

The project involves modernizing Back End systems, enhancing APIs, and integrating financial protections to improve customer outcomes. This is a remote-first role with optional quarterly meetings and occasional mandatory attendance (about four times over the contract).

You'll work as part of a team of four hires (three Seniors, one Principal) and contribute to a high-impact initiative within a leading financial institution.

This role requires strong Back End development experience in NodeJS alongsid experience of the AWS Stack including Lambda and CDK.

As a Software Engineer you will be responsible to:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable and secure Back End services using Node.js and AWS.
• Implement AWS CDK and Lambda to optimize infrastructure deployment.
• Enhance API integrations and financial transaction processes to support FCFS requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure robust security and compliance measures.
• Maintain and improve NoSQL databases and other Back End services.
• Contribute to system design discussions and architectural decisions.
• Ensure code quality, testing, and documentation standards are met.

Core Expertise:

• Strong experience with Node.js and TypeScript.
• AWS stack (CDK, Lambda, and other AWS services) - core expertise required.
• Experience working with NoSQL databases.
• Solid understanding of APIs and Back End integrations.

Nice-to-Have:

• Familiarity with React (for potential collaboration with Front End teams).
• Experience using GitHub for version control and collaboration.
